The benefits of living in Danville are numerous. Mainly, Danville is on the cusp of a huge economic resurgence that will offer fantastic opportunities to residents, workers and investors.
Just this past week, it was announced that a leading international supplier of lead acid battery separators, Microporous, pledged to Invest $1.35 billion and create over 2,000 jobs in Pittsylvania County/Danville.
“This historic $1.35 billion investment by Microporous in Pittsylvania County marks a new chapter in Virginia’s incredible advanced manufacturing story,” said Virginia's Governor, Glenn Youngkin. “This project not only brings over 2,000 new jobs to Southern Virginia, but also positions the Commonwealth at the forefront of our nation’s resurgence in manufacturing. Microporous’ decision to establish their new facility here underscores Virginia’s competitive advantages and our commitment to leading the way in innovative industries.”
“With the new facility in Berry Hill, Microporous is taking a major step toward the future of energy storage technology,” said Microporous CEO John Reeves. “We extend our deepest gratitude to the Department of Energy, the Commonwealth of Virginia, Pittsylvania County, and the City of Danville for their incredible support and collaboration in making this project possible. Microporous is dedicated to developing the local workforce, investing in the community to improve opportunities for the local economy, and creating a better tomorrow for everyone.”
“Microporous’ selection of Pittsylvania County is a massive win for Southern Virginia and the entire Commonwealth,” said U.S. Senator Mark Warner. “This investment was made possible in part by a $100 million award courtesy of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which I was proud to help negotiate. This new manufacturing facility will not only create over 2,000 good-paying jobs but will also help to continue to position Virginia as the advanced manufacturing hub of the United States. I look forward to welcoming Microporous to the Commonwealth and to working together for years to come.”
It was recently announced that the on-going Caesar’s Casino on the Dan River will have its grand opening on December 12, 2024. Construction of $750 million Caesars Virginia in Danville provides opportunities and experiences that honor the unique spirit and diversity of this area. Caesars Virginia also announced plans to open a new Ramsay’s Kitchen by the end of this year. The new dining venue will be located next to the hotel registration lobby and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seating will accommodate 250 total guests. The restaurant will include an outdoor patio and a private dining room. Ramsay’s Kitchen will bring a world-class dining option that the region has never seen!
Lastly, but not least, Danville's main medical facility, Sovah Health, recently earned a top rating from U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-25 Best Hospitals designation. The local facility was ranked as a high performing hospital for heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia, the hospital reported in a news release yesterday. This marks yet another feather in Danville’s cap that will benefit current residents and draw more retirees to the community in the future.
It marks the highest distinction a hospital can earn in the procedures and conditions rating of U.S. News & World Report.
The publishing company evaluated about 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions, according to the release. The “best” designation means a hospital excelled at factors like clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and hospital experience.
The takeaway from these fantastic new announcements is that Danville, Virginia is positioned for a VERY bright future with a huge boost to the local economy, new opportunities for workers and retirees alike.
